Ehhh.... I've been better...

Haven't posted here in a while, not sure where to start. Since the last time I've written, I've become unemployed (fired for asking for a raise), lost 10lbs due to depression + not having enough to eat, being cheered up by my gf and gaining that 10lbs back, along w/ various other financial problems that come with being unemployed. So naturally, my mma training has been put on hold until I get that all settled. Which sucks, because I've been doing tons of reading, looking at tons of tutorials and instructionals, and I actually started eating healthy. Right now I'm on the see-food diet, if ya know what I mean. I'm hoping to get things back on track real soon, because I'm more eager than ever to start fighting. I don't know what it is, but I'm really pumped up about it lately. A guy I trained with a couple times just won a fight a couple weeks ago, and in a couple more weeks he'll be fighting for a title in a small show. Seeing people around me succeed really pushes me to want to become better. I'm sure any athlete knows how that is. Anyways, I'm out for now.

New place to train....

After a few set-backs (losing my job, not being able to participate in the BJJ tourny), I feel like I'm finally back on track towards my goals. I just joined up with a great group of guys to train with. They call themselves the Ring Lords. It's a very small group of guys, but the knowledge is immense. They will not only get me in great, fighting shape, I will also become a great technical fighter. I'm very excited to be training with them. Big ups go to Boomer from Cagesidemma.com. If it wasn't for him I would have never met these guys. If you guys are ever looking for good gear at a great price, Boomer is the man, trust me on that one.

I dislocated my shoulder yesterday while doing some judo training over at Ring Lords. It hurts :-P In a couple days I should be good to go though. I'm very eager to get back to training. I can really feel it all really starting to have a great affect on me already.  I'm really looking forward to finally being able to fight. I just know I have the potential to make a real impact on the MMA scene here in NC. I have no idea what weight I will end up fight at, but I have a feeling I could end up as low as 135. I used to weigh that a few years back, who knows. Anyways, enough writing, I need to go make my shoulder feel better :D

1st Tournament :D!!!

So...... I've decided today to enter into my first BJJ tournament. It's the George Pendergrass Classic No-Gi competition. Of course, I'll be entering the beginer division, and I'm hoping to drop 10lbs in a week to be eligable for middleweight. I'm 187lbs right now. The tournament will take place March 15th in Wake Forest, NC. I may even enter the absolute division if money isn't to tight. I need all the experience I can get. Wish me luck!

Weight Loss- Week 1

Well, I've finally decided it's time to slim back down. My freshman year in high school I was a very slim 135 (I'm 5'9", btw). I've weighed as much as 215, and recently my lowest weight has been 169. I'm currently 189.6 (as of 7:30AM today). My goal is 170lbs by the end of March. I've already changed up the diet quite a bit. I'm eating alot more fruits and vegies, leaner meat, and avoiding the fried stuff. My ultimate goal is 170, with the idea of being able to cut down to 155. I want to at least have my first amateur MMA bout by the end of the year. Wish me luck! I will keep track of my progress here. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
